The Model - Training
UK Training
There are four TaxAssist Accountants training courses spread throughout the year. These last for six weeks and take place in Norwich, with a week’s home study in week four. All new franchisees are required to take an online aptitute test at home before joining the training course, and for those whom we feel it would be beneficial, we require them to attend a two day introduction to bookkeeping course ahead of the six week training course. If the franchisee passes the aptitute test they do not need to complete the pre-course training although they can still attend these two introductory days if they wish.
Following the training course outlined above, there is further training in year one. This includes courses designed to teach you how to handle small limited company accounts (not subject to statutory audit), PAYE, Corporation tax, CCH software, introduction to business valuation, marketing ideas, the Chancellor’s budget, inheritance tax, capital gains tax, management accounts, budgets and projections, cash flow statements etc. There is also additional training and mentoring at months 2, 3 and 6.
By the end of the training provided by TaxAssist Accountants you will know how to;
- Market yourself, find and retain your clients
- Competently complete year end and monthly/quarterly accounts and tax computations
- Complete Self-Assessment tax returns and various other tax forms
- Operate bookkeeping + VAT software and be able to advise your clients
- Run an efficient office/shopfront and business with the support of IT, marketing and eventually staff
- In short – how to run and grow a successful business
On an ongoing basis, we also provide modestly priced courses at our support centre in Norwich and regionally, to keep the network up to date with technical and marketing developments. Our marketing courses include pricing and fee raising as well as social media training to keep our network abreast of business relevant advancements.
Twice a year we provide Tax Update Days to cover Budget, tax and accountancy updates. These are held at four locations around the country at no extra cost.
Republic of Ireland Training
There are three TaxAssist Accountants training courses spread throughout the year. These last for five weeks and take place in Dublin.
Our introductory accounts and tax training is delivered in house at our Support Centre in Dublin. Our marketing trainers provide a Business Acceleration Programme which encompasses five consecutive days of the five week initial training course, and lasts for six months after the end of the training course. We work with you during the course to decide on the right business development activity for your territory, then monitor your success. If for instance, we notice that you are attending a good number of appointments but not signing up at the rate we expect, we will help you to increase your conversion rate. This level of ‘hand-holding’ is the kind of support you may need in your first six months, and will help you to build your business at an aspirational rate.
Following the training course outlined above, there are two follow on training days reviewing your progress. These will provide a full review of issues for each individual franchisee.
By the end of the training you will know how to;
- Market yourself, find and retain your clients
- Competently complete year end and monthly/quarterly accounts and tax computations
- Complete Self-Assessment tax returns and various other tax forms
- Operate bookkeeping + VAT software and be able to advise your clients
- Run an efficient office/shopfront and business with the support of IT, marketing and eventually staff
- In short – how to run and grow a successful business
